Songs For Books (1)

You know how sometimes you hear a song and think, "Wow, this song reminds me of [insert name of book here]." Well the song and book in the spotlight today is:
Song: What's Your Name  by Jesse McCartney
Book: The Strange Angels Series by Lili St. Crow

Why? Well because Dru seems to have an aversion to telling people what her name is short for, so of course the first thing I  think is "What's your name, what's your name, oh, I really wanna know."

Seriously though, I can't wait to find out what her name really is. It can't be that embarrassing.... can it?

Review: I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

My Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: February 2011

Date Published: August 3, 2010 by HarperCollins
Hardback, 440 pages
Series: Lorien Legacies book One

Summary From GoodReads: In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.

I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT

My review:

Before I Read The Book:
I have decided to give this book a chance. Every time I go into a store where they sell books there it is, staring at me. Last time that happened I read the book and fell in love with it, so I guess we'll see.

After I Read The Book: Okay, I was happily surprised by this book. I've only read a few books about aliens, just because aliens aren't really my favorite thing to read about, And even though The Host still holds number one on my favorite list, I Am Number Four comes very close. Once I finally started it, I had it finished in just a couple of hours because it was that addicting. I'm glad that I gave it a chance instead of walking away from it like I was going to.

I loved John, Sam, and Sarah, but I especially loved Bernie Kosar! he's a little oddball, but SOO adorable! I also knew that Mark couldn't be as much of a [insert bad word here] as he was letting on.

I'm EXTREMELY excited for The Power Of Six to come out, I can't wait to see what happens next! :)

*My reasons for reading this book are 95% because it's always there staring at me (See Before I read The Book) and 5% because If I go to see the movie (Which I really want to) I have to have read the book. I can't watch a movie that's based off of a book without having actually read the book first. I don't know why, I just can't.

Review: Intrinsical by Lani Woodland

My Rating: 5 Stars
Date Read: April, 2011

Date Published: August 20, 2010 by Pendrell
Hardback, 298 pages
Series: The Yara Silva Trilogy book one

Summary from Goodreads:  Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other females in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly.

My review: Let me just start out by saying how much I love the title of the book, it's so much fun to say! Okay, now onto the actual review ;)

The idea of Wakers and astral projection was what lured me into this book in the first place (Aside from the promise of a sweet romance). And it made this not your average ghost story, but about a hundred times better. It moved at a nice, steady, pace. Nothing was too rushed and was dragged out for forever either.

I loved that, when the story started, Yara was saving Brent, not the other way around.

Speaking of Brent, I loved him, despite his cocky attitude, because he really does care about Yara, even though he sometimes he doesn't show it very well. He always comes through for her where it counts.

I have to admit, I went into panic-mode there for awhile, because I had no clue how Brent and Yara were going to get out of the situation they were in. Seriously, I didn't think it was even possible.

I'm so glad I was given the chance to read this book, it's definitely one of my favorites. I'm so beyond excited for the sequel, so I can see what happens next.

Cover Reveal:Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

TAAAADAAAAAAAA!!

I absolutely LOVE the cover. I'd hoped that that was how it was going to be. I mean, the first book had Patch, and the second book had Nora, so it only makes sense that this one would have them both on it. Seeing this cover makes me wish that it was closer to time for it to come out.
