Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover...

Or at least that’s what I've always been told. Because, as we all know, looks can be deceiving, and it’s what’s on the inside that really matters. But there are time, despite my valiant efforts, I see a book with a pretty cover on it and I’m sold. I barely give the summary a passing glance. Which, of course, could backfire horrendously on me. I mean, what if I end up with a book like *SHUDDERS* 50 Shades of Grey? (Which, by the way, I've never read and I never will thankyouverymuch) It hasn't happened yet *knocks on wood* so I’m just going to go ahead and keep picking up pretty books. Anyways, here are some of the books that have given me a serious case of book lust:

All of these books, in case you were wondering, were fabulous. What about you? Have you ever picked up a book based solely on the cover? How'd it turn out for you? Let me know down in the comments!

Books for Spring Break

It’s that time of year (FINALLY!) or close enough to it at least… SPRING BREAK! Warm weather, shorts and sandals, the sand beneath your feet…Or maybe, like me, you’re not going anywhere, but are looking for a good spring break-ish sort of book… Anyway, you’ll definitely want to check out these books.

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Look at the cover! LOOK AT IT! Not to mention the title. If that isn’t reason enough to make you pick it up and read it during Spring Break, then I don’t know what is. Plus I really liked all of the extras inside the book. Playlists, menus, receipts, etc.  After I read it, I was determined that I was going to go on an Epic Detour of my very own… Now I just need to find someone to go with me.

Thrill Ride by Rachel Hawthorne
Okay, I have to add the description from Goodreads, because that’s what is on the back of the book, and that’s what caught my eye in the first place:
Thrill Ride!
One-day admission: $15

Summer job:

Pros:
Living on my own (plus roommates)
Rides are free (but avoid the roller coasters—too scary!)
Super-hot coworker . . .

Cons:
Periodic homesickness
Dressing like Gretel for job in fairyland gift shop

Super-hot coworker . . . and boyfriend back home. Too thrilling!
That super-hot coworker? His name is Parker… and he works at an amusement park… ha ha ha ha, he also thinks that Megan (that’s the name of the main character, you know, in case you didn’t figure that out yourself) has a sexy voice, and he tells her that when she answers the phone for her roommate.  I have to admit, when I read that part in the book, I was smiling like a dork. Because, come on, who wouldn’t smile? You wouldn’t? Well fine then, excuuuuuse me.

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
If you got an envelope with $1,000 and instructions to buy a plane ticket to London, would you? I might. Ginny did. And during the course of the book, with instructions from the aforementioned 13 Little Blue Envelopes, she gets to go on the adventure of a lifetime.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
18-year old Bria signed up for a tour of Central America… only she signed up for the one full of middle-aged, fanny pack wearing tourists… so NOT what she wanted. But when she meets the Swoon Worthy Rowan, a bad boy who’s trying to be good, she decides to go on a backpacking adventure. They stay at hostels (Yikes!) and visit beautiful villages and islands… this book is sure to give you a strong case of wanderlust.

Wish You Were Italian by Kristin Rae
Pippa is supposed to spend her summer in Italy at a prestigious art school… Only she doesn’t want to. So once she gets off the plane, she realizes that there isn’t anything stopping her from just ditching the art school, so that’s exactly what she does. She’s determined to fall in love with an Italian guy while she’s there. Does she? Maaaaaybe. You’ll have to read it and find out.

How My Summer Went Up In Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
This book. Ha ha ha, it starts off with the main character getting served a restraining order. Why? Because she accidentally set her ex-boyfriend’s car on fire. And in the process of trying to make things right, she kinda sorta comes across as stalkerish. And, well, you’re just going to have to read it to find out what else happens.

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
I’m rather fond of road trip novels, with swoon worthy boys who are just so awesome they almost seem to good to be true.
