This was a very middle of the road kind of book for me. That could partly be because of the fact that I've been in a weird kind of mood for the last month or so, and haven't really been reading or impressed with much.

I remembered more about the first book than I thought I was going to when I started this one, which was a nice surprise for me.

Things tied up rather conveniently, which is fine. I was having almost as much anxiety about what was going on as Ziva was.

Sidenote every single time they said Ziva's name, I immediately thought of the Prison Healer trilogy.. No, her name was not Ziva, it's KIVA, but that series has a hold on me, and it's literally all I can think about. SOOOOO...

It was a fast and fun retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

I had no idea it was a retelling of Beauty and the Beast until I started reading it, but you could tell right away what fairytale vibes it gave off. The only thing I, personally, didn't like was the whole furniture "talking" to her thing. It felt a little weird to me, taking that out wouldn't have detracted from the story overall.

I wasn't a big fan of our Beast for a very long time. It took forever for him to start growing on me.

Spoilers so read on with caution

Um, I wanted to love this one as much as the first one so bad, but unfortunately it just didn't hit the same. It had a lot of promising things going on, but I never quite felt the connection with it that I wanted.

There were so many relationships I wanted to see grow/more of, and situations that I felt were only half addressed. Everything was just a little underwhelming especially compared to how much I loved the first one.

Sebastian was one annoying mother fluffer, and every single time I thought I would start to like him, he'd open up his stupid mouth and make me remember that he was a jerk. ALTHOUGH, he did go and redeem himself towards the end.

This was one of those late night, saw a blurb that looked interesting proceeded to read the whole thing kind of reads. Like, had I not blasted through the entire book last night I would not have picked it back up again.

It's a hot mess kind of book, and there were some parts of it that I absolutely loved, and you know what? It made me cry several different times. (I was already feeling emotional, so it wasn't a hard thing to do) and I like when a book makes me cry, and I've been told recently that the occasional cry is good for you. But other parts I didn't much care for.

One thing I did NOT appreciate was how... aggressively the men handled the women. Like, far too often. But it's a dark romance, soooo. Definitely check out the trigger warnings before you go into this one.

Did It Make Me Cry? Yes. Please read above.

Errrmmm, This was fine. Not my most favorite book. There was a lot of thens and nows, and it was hard to keep track of who everyone was and what they were doing. I probably couldn't tell you too many of the finer points of the story other than she learned to tell everyone NO, her house got ransacked, he was some super secret child actor, and one of the friends was super shady.
