Another promising start to a new series. It moves a little slow at first, but I really enjoyed reading it. Especially since I've been a fan girl once or twice in my life, so I can kind of relate to her feelings about things. The only difference is, I don't care who knows it. If you don't want to be my friend because I like something a lot, well then... there's the door. *shrugs*

I love the interactions between Akari and Kazama, they're just so cute, together, and it feels like they balance each other out very well, and I cannot wait to see what happens next, especially with how the first book ended!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this. All thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Did It Make Me Cry? No. But it did make me laugh a few times.

ARC Review: It's Boba Time For Pearl Li! ~ Nicole Chen

Image from Goodreads. Click on the image to learn more about this book.

Format I Used: Digital ARC

Pages: 368

Running Time: 7h 31m
My Rating: 4 stars
Publication Date: February 28, 2023

I thought this book was extremely charming. As someone who crochets a little, and enjoys the occasional boba tea, I love that this focuses on Pearl and her love for Boba and Amigurumi.

I think Pearl is a character who is easy to relate to. She's still trying to figure out who she is, and how to stand up for herself and what she loves. A lot of things start changing all at once, and she makes a lot of mistakes, but ends up learning from them. And she's able to strengthen her relationships with her friends and family.

I also love that there is a glossary of terms at the end of the book, and a little chart for how Pearl calculated the profits for Kawaii Crochets. I thought that it was a nice way for younger kids to understand what was being talked about, and give them an idea of what to do if they also wanted to start making and selling things.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Harpercollins Children's books for allowing me to read an ARC of this delightful book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

ARC Review PART 1: Cursed Crown ~ Catherine Doyle & Katherine Webber

Cursed Crowns by Catherine Doyle

Running Time: 9h:15m

My Rating: 5 stars

I have lots of spoilery things that I want to say about this book, but I won't. Yet. Why? Because this book doesn't come out until May, and I don't want to ruin anything for anyone in advance of its release date. So consider this part 1 of my review... If you want to see part 2 with spoilers, please come back 1 week after its release date for a spoiler inundated update review.

Hold on, BRB, gotta go sob in the corner for a few minutes.

Listen, when I tell you that I SCREECHED like a velociraptor when I saw that I was approved for an ARC of this book, I am NOT exaggerating. Why? Because, my friend, the last book left off in some VERY kind of stressful way. and I was ANXIOUS to see how things were going to play out.

I still cared more about Wren's POV and goings on than I did Rose's, at least until closer to the end. But at the same time, I liked Rose's character better than I did Wren... Which is very confusing. Wren had a lot of emotional trauma that she was dealing with, and she didn't always make the right choices. (I mean, Rose did the same thing, but you know...) I liked seeing how Rose and Wren balanced each other out. This still had hints of that Fantasy RomCom that attracted me to the first book, but this one had a lot more serious undertones.

We learn a lot more about SO MANY of the characters too. And I can't wait for you all to read about it! And know the same things that I do now...

Thank you so so much to Harper Collins, Catherine Doyle, Katherine Webber, and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great addition to the Teen Titans series. I've been a fan since Raven came out and this one definitely did not disappoint!

I love Kami Garcia as an author and I adore the artwork that Gabriel Picolo does for this series.

The action and danger are starting to build and it's getting more and more interesting. I can't wait to read Starfire's addition when it comes out next July!

Thank you so much to DC Comics and Netgalley for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hello friends and welcome to my review. Let me just start by saying this book had me

S T R E S S E D to the max. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it.

It was enjoyable though! I thought the whole magic system in this book was interesting! I loved how strong and resilient Selene was with all the bad things that kept hurtling themselves at her full speed. I also appreciated how determined she was.

Personally, the jury's still out on my opinion of Memnon. He's a little... ummm, extra unhinged? Which, the book explains WHY he's that way (all that power comes at a great price) but I'm still unconvinced of him as of right now.... He has potential though and he DOES get bonus points for the scene where Selene is getting chased by the wackadoodle people and he can feel how scared she is and keeps telling her to use his power, since they're connected. He's got a lot more character development he needs to go through. Maybe that's why it felt like this enemies to lovers book tilted more towards the enemies side with a hint of angry spiciness thrown in .

You want to know what I really really REALLY want to see more of? Kane. That's who. I'm not sure how that's all going to play out, but he's one of my favorite side? characters and I'm hoping that he's not going to ended brutally unalived... which is entirely possible at this point, who knows.

This was a bingeable read for sure! So make sure to check it out, especially if you've enjoyed this author's previous novels!

Thank you SO MUCH to Laura and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review
